General Info

Hong Coffee & Bakery is a welcoming Chinese restaurant located at 349 E Garvey Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91755, United States, offering a comfortable spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic flavors in a relaxed setting. During my visit, what immediately stood out was how the restaurant balances traditional Chinese comfort food with a casual bakery and coffee experience. The atmosphere feels approachable and inviting, making it a great choice whether you are stopping in for a quick bite, meeting friends over coffee, or exploring new items from the menu. The wheelchair accessible entrance also makes the location convenient for a wider range of guests, while the acceptance of credit cards adds to the overall ease of dining.

One of the highlights on the menu is the Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup, a satisfying dish that delivers both flavor and warmth. The wontons are paired with noodles in a rich broth that feels comforting from the first spoonful. Another memorable option is the Wonton & Beef Stew with Noodles in Soup, which combines tender ingredients with hearty noodles for a filling meal. For diners looking for something even more substantial, the Dumpling and Beef Tripe with Noodles in Soup offers a deeper, more robust flavor profile that showcases the restaurant’s dedication to traditional Chinese cooking.

What makes Hong Coffee & Bakery stand out among similar locations is its thoughtful selection of desserts. After enjoying the savory dishes, the Green Beans and Kelp Dessert provides a refreshing contrast with its unique texture and balanced sweetness. The Pandan Coconut Tofu Dessert is another standout choice, offering a smooth and delicate finish that complements the richer flavors found throughout the menu. These desserts add variety and help create a well-rounded dining experience.

Coffee lovers will also appreciate that Hong Coffee & Bakery is more than just a restaurant. The coffee selection pairs naturally with many of the bakery offerings and desserts, making it easy to linger a little longer and enjoy the atmosphere. Based on my experience, the restaurant delivers exactly what many guests look for in local reviews: comforting food, dependable service, and a menu filled with flavorful options. “ Hole in the wall, hidden gem, mom & pop vibes! they take card! I can't get over these egg noodles in this wonton mein! seems like most places serve it up clumped together and you need to split your chopsticks to break them apart - BUT NOT HERE. they are silky and bouncy! and the soup is nicely flavored, enhancing everything in the dish. you also get four big wontons filled with plump shrimp and pork. I also love their hainan chicken, well seasoned, and the filet mignon has a nice kick. Nice selection of traditional asian dessert options in individual serving sides (tofu pudding with ginger syrup, "che thai", ube tofu, etc.) and they also sell their wontons/dumplings frozen + noodles in packages. parking is available on the street! limited seating, but a lot of folks are doing takeaway! ”

“ Yum! Clean, simple Hong Kong comfort dishes for take out. Their $11.95 dumpling egg noodle soup was amazing! They have both yellow wrapped (Hong Kong style) wonton, and white wrapped (Shanghai style) dumpling. I got confused thinking dumplings was regular dumplings, but I think they mean white wrapped wontons. They also sell frozen wontons (50pc) $27 for wontons, $30 for white skin wontons/they call dumplings. Takes credit card. $11.95 Dumpling Soup includes 8 dumplings. If you want noodles, then it'll include 4 dumplings with a choice of noodles (flat, vermicelli, or egg). The dumplings are white wontons. $4-$6 Herbal, dessert drinks to fresh tofu. My $4.95 Green bean and seaweed dessert was refreshing, and anti-inflammatory. Looking forward to trying more items like their regular wontons, beef dishes, $12.95 hainan chicken on rice, and $9.95+ congee. Apparently their receipt says Congee & Noodle House (previously what their business was called?). Located next to a water refill place if wanted to also refill there. ”

“ Wow. This place is so nostalgic!!! First of all the hainan chicken is perfectly cooked. Even without using the dipping sauce, it is incredibly tasty. A good portion too. LOVE. And we took home two gallon sized bags of frozen dumplings and wontons. They were easy to pop in a boiling pot and taste so good. The fillings were generous. We will absolutely be back to this mom and pop shop. One of the owners ran the front of house and she was so sweet. Such a gem in Monterey Park. ”
